Songs Of Innocence, eligible Grammy

Did you ever doubt the U2 marketing machines would allow the bands hard work go unnoticed for Grammy consideration? The label rush out to a very small limited group of record stories a vinyl copy of current release made available for sale by today's cut off point.

Sources inside the machine said that the band and the label knew that they needed release something before the cut off to considered.

Grammy guidelines are very clear and communicated that the band will be eligible for the upcoming 57th Annual Grammy Awards on February 8th, 2015. "As long as the album, be it CD, vinyl or digital, is available commercially for sale to the public by our eligibility cutoff date at a nationally recognized retailer or website, then it's eligible for consideration,"

The fine print states: For the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2013 and Sept. 30, 2014. Recordings must be commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the Internet, or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year's voting deadline (final ballot).

No Billboard or No Grammy nod for U2

The world was surprised today by the release of U2’s  “Songs of Innocence” as a free download on for iTunes account holders and streamed on Beats Music you will not see the album make the Billboard top 200.

Yup since the album really does not go on sale until October 14th pretty much knocks it out of Billboard and also knocked them out of Grammy consideration.  Rules for Grammy consideration are very clear.

"The album must be commercially available in order for it to be eligible, and the official release date determines its eligibility in a particular awards year," a Grammys rep told Billboard. "In this case, the album is commercially available on Oct. 14, 2014, so it will be eligible for consideration for the 58th Grammy Awards."

Apple has a spend of in excess of $100 Million on an ad campaign supporting the release of the new devices which includes the single "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone."  No word on how much Apple paid U2 for the single or the early release of the album however you can be sure that Bono and the boys did not let it go out the door cheap.

Now U2 and management will have a chance to talk to the Academy to get some understanding on the rules however for now is a celebration for U2 fans and for the band to finally release some new music.

U2 Grammy Bound 2015 ?

Bono / U2 / U2TOURFANS / U2360

Bono / U2 / U2TOURFANS / U2360

U2 is expecting 2014 to be a busy year for them.  As we have reported earlier the endless supply of rumors keep us busy and dreaming of the possibility of something this year.

Lets look at this from U2’s point of view if we do not release something before the end of October we lose our chances for 2014 Grammy.

If we wait until 2014 to release well we have a whole year to look for that Grammy single or heck the whole album.

That makes sense right ? Well not from a fans point of view.

So fans its time to sit back relax listen to some of the greatest old stuff you can find from the boys and wait it out. Think lucky March !

Now what is a concern for us over here @U2TOURFANS. What will the tour be like? What can we expect?  Some massive giant explosive tour with amazing visuals or maybe something small, inviting and warm.

We heard that the ideas that have been kicking around suggest a 3 stop with 3 different sets every night. Also we heard that maybe it would be 3 decades of U2 shows broken into those 3 nights.

Well back to our dreams we head as we await the next rumor.

Stage Set, Band Arrived, Ready 2 Rock !

The band is touring South Africa as part of its 360 Degrees Tour that was launched in 2009.

After the Sunday gig at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg the 22-time Grammy Award-winning band will move to Cape Town to perform on February 18.

Tickets went on sale in October and by yesterday 101,000 had been snapped up. The stage will allow all fans at the 11,0000-seater stadium to have a clear view of the group.

The stage, designed by Willie Williams, who has worked on 10 productions with the band, was built by Belgian company Stageco. It is 24,7metres high and can support up to 180tons.

The steel stage also includes a cylindrical video screen, that weighs 54 tonnes.

Launched in support of the group’s 2009 album, No Line on the Horizon, the tour won the Billboard Touring Award for highest grossing tour in 2009 and last year.

The group, which is led by Bono, was formed in Dublin (Ireland) in 1976 and has sold more than 150 million records.

U2 Social Awareness Awakens

Two-time Grammy winning group Soweto Gospel Choir has collaborated with international group U2 on a world cup project. The artists have created music for a series of inserts about South Africa that will be featured on sports channel ESPN during the big tournament. From June 11, ESPN will use music that has been specially recorded by Soweto Gospel Choir and U2.  “This is something very exciting for the choir considering U2 is such a big rock band,” said the choir’s Lucas Bok.The collaboration will appear in every program throughout ESPN’s presentation of the 2010 Fifa World Cup. The choir first sang with U2 on stage at the inaugural 46664 concert.

Scams

We had to spend a few minutes this morning to alert you of this latest scam. If your on Facebook and Twitter your aware of the thousands of Fan sites that have appeared over night. The new scam is simply to be able to get your agree to some kind of application game from facebook, which is not endorsed by them to be loaded on your page. Warning this is the first step of gaining your personal information. Next item we noticed is tickets. You can either purchase from Ticketmaster or choose purchase from a reseller. We have checked into TicketsNow they are an official company of TicketMaster so the scalping ticket prices you have seen are not available from them. In full disclosure yes they do have a adveristment on the main U2TOURFANS site. We comfirmed their practices and we believe that they are a good secondary choice for ticket purchases. As we get closer to the tour start you will see all types of U2 stuff appear just check carefully and if your still concerned pass on it and save your money.

Grammy Pre Show Produces No Wins

Well folks as reported U2 has been shut out of two of the three nominations that have been announced during the pre-show awards. “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” did not win against “Use Somebody (Kings of Leon, who toured with the band before) in both the Best Rock and Best Rock Song categories. Now that leaves one category left. Best Rock Album which will be announced during the show on CBS. ( US Broadcast Channel ).

Grammy Time ! Predictions any one ?

Grammy weekend has arrived. Well the boys from Ireland pull an upset and cap off a successful 2009. U2 has been nominated for 3 Grammys for No Line on the Horizon. The boys have won a total of 22 Grammys and they are tied currently with Stevie Wonder as the only artists to win as many. The categories may not be the top ones, album of  the year, song of the year and record of the year. However they are nominated, we can officially call this album the “Sleeper of the Year” ( U.S football fans know that’s a good thing). You can read all the nominations at Grammy.com. We will have a complete run down of No Line On The Horizon. We have all the songs/Videos loaded. You can down load them from iTunes or Amazon.
