After months of new music, hints and speculation, we finally have it.

U2 are back with their 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, set for release November 13, 2026.

And this isn’t just another album release. It arrives as Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. mark an incredible 50 years together as U2.

For those of us who have followed this band through albums, tours, reinventions, questionable haircuts and more shows than we probably want to admit, that alone makes this one feel different.

12 New U2 Songs

Carnaval De Luz features 12 new tracks and follows a year that has already given U2 fans plenty to talk about.

The album includes “Street of Dreams,” “Silencio,” and the album-closing “Torn,” featuring Dolly Parton.

Just looking at those titles, there’s plenty here to get U2 fans talking.

“Silencio” Gives Us Another Look at the Album

Along with the album announcement, U2 released “Silencio,” giving us another taste of where Carnaval De Luz may be headed.

The short, energetic track follows “Street of Dreams,” which arrived earlier this summer.

If you’ve been wondering what kind of U2 record we’re getting this time around, we’re beginning to get the answer. This doesn’t sound like a band interested in simply looking backward and celebrating an anniversary.

They’re still trying things.

And that’s exactly what U2 should be doing.

Some Familiar Names Are Back

One of the most interesting parts of Carnaval De Luz is the list of collaborators surrounding the album.

Longtime U2 collaborator Brian Eno is involved with several tracks, including “Go (Carnaval De Luz),” “The Greatest Show on Earth” and “Can’t Stop Us Now.”

For longtime fans, seeing Eno’s name connected with new U2 music immediately gets your attention.

There’s also a connection with Martin Garrix, who co-wrote “Glorify,” continuing the relationship we saw earlier this year.

And then there’s Rosalía, whose name appears alongside “The Mirror Maker.”

But perhaps the biggest surprise is waiting at the end of the album.

U2 and Dolly Parton

Yes, you read that correctly.

Dolly Parton appears on the album-closing “Torn.”

The song was written with U2, Dolly Parton and Johnny McDaid, with longtime U2 collaborator Daniel Lanois contributing pedal steel guitar.

That is not a U2 collaboration we had on our bingo card.

But that’s also what makes it interesting.

After nearly five decades of making records, U2 can still put together a combination that makes fans stop and ask, What is this going to sound like?

The EPs Were Part of the Story

The new album also puts U2’s earlier 2026 releases, Days of Ash and Easter Lily, into better perspective.

Bono has described Carnaval De Luz as connected to those projects, with the EPs and album emerging from the same larger creative period.

Earlier this year Bono talked about U2 making music they wanted to play live.

That comment feels a lot more important now.

Because you know what comes next.

What About a U2 Tour?

Every U2 fan is asking the same question.

When are they going back on the road?

Right now, there is plenty of discussion surrounding the possibility of U2 touring in 2027. But until the band officially announces dates, cities and venues, we’re treating tour information as exactly what it is: speculation.

Still, the pieces are starting to line up.

Larry is back. There’s a new album. U2 have talked about making music they want to perform live. And the band is entering its 50th anniversary year with a lot of activity.

We’ll be watching this one closely.

50 Years of U2, But They’re Not Finished Yet

1976 to 2026.

Four guys came together in Dublin and somehow, 50 years later, Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. are still making music together.

More than 175 million records sold. Twenty-two Grammys. Tours that changed what stadium concerts could look like. Albums that became part of our lives.

And now another record.

For longtime U2 fans, Carnaval De Luz isn’t interesting simply because it’s album number 16.

It’s interesting because U2 could very easily spend this year celebrating everything they’ve already accomplished.

Instead, they’re releasing new music.

There’s another chapter coming.

And we’re ready for it.
