The Barcelona U2 360 Tour Review Opening Night Success

U2 kicked of the first tour in three years earlier tonight in Barcelona. The crowd was about 90, 000 plus fans with a live link up to the Space Station. This is one of the biggest concert stages ever built. The U2 360 tour will hit 31 cities across Europe and North America and we can expect it to have a South American leg as well. In all estimates right now sit about 3M people will see the show, not counting the new dates to be annouced in 2010.

The circular plaform inside Nou Camp Stadium had fans all around and inside. Taking into account of the global recession ticket prices average lower to allow for a bigger audience.

Bono thanked the fans for coming out and understood that things are tuff around the world. Many have called the show a high octane, over drive show.

Opening numbers "Breathe, Magnificent saw the crowd come alive as the anthem style song race thur the stadium. The night was filled with a mix of old and new songs, of course the classics including Beautiful Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday. The band dedicated Angel of Harlem to Micheal Jackson who suddnely died at the age of 50 last week.

"We wrote this one for Billie Holiday but we are going to play it tonight for Michael Jackson," said Bono. "Unspeakable talent, that's all there is to say, really," he added, and the song morphed into Jackson hits "Man in the Mirror" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough".

Its started - Crowds coming in

U2start.com says fans "first in line are signing contracts, probably for interviews." They've also posted a good picture via Twitter of the Tuesday morning scene outside Camp Nou stadium.

#1: Around 3000 people will be let into the inner circle and the first 400 will have a head start of about 10 minutes, according to U2start.com.

#2: U2EastLink has some great photos from Monday's dress rehearsal.

#3: Fans are inside the stadium and here's a pic from 2nd row at the b-stage. U2tour is right up front, too, and posted this photo looking up at The Claw, and this one, too. Ditto for U2gigs and this photo. U2gigs also posted this view from the back of the pitch, along with this one, too.

U2tour.de posted this photo and this one. The merchandise stands are all outside the stadium, so you can't shop during the show. U2start.com says the Aung San Suu Kyi masks are being handed out to fans. Here's a pic.

5: U2tour.de has a great photo with bad news: You can't see the video screen from Row 21 and higher on the 1st level of Camp Nou. Ouch. On YouTube, here's a video of fans entering the pitch.

There are no bracelets this tour, it seems. Instead, fans with GA/floor access are getting ink stamps on their arms, like this one.

Fans are also being asked not to lean against the railings because the bridge that connects the main stage and the outer circle rotates. See this photo.
