U2 New Zealand Show ?

Speculation is rife that U2 will bring their large, state-of-the-art concert here in November.

Fans are eagerly awaiting an announcement from the band, who are expected to confirm dates not long after they resume their world tour tomorrow.

International reports say U2 are finalising their plans to play in New Zealand in November - possibly at Mt Smart Stadium - and Australia straight after.

But sources say New Zealand concerts could be called off, depending on the condition of frontman Bono’s injured back.

The U2 360 Degrees tour has featured a 50m-tall, four-legged stage shipped around the world to concert venues.

The stage, nicknamed “The Claw”, lets audiences encircle the band and watch from all sides.

The tour has earned $400 million since it began in Europe just over a year ago, but it hit a snag in May when Bono suffered a slipped spinal disc.

The band pulled out of the Glastonbury festival in England and rescheduled their North American concerts to next year.

Bono had surgery on his back and has since been recovering.

Negotiations for a New Zealand tour have been going on since last year, and Wellington’s Westpac Stadium has been put forward as another possible venue.

The world tour has been organised by promoters Live Nation, who have just opened an office in Australia.

Live Nation’s Asia office, based in Hong Kong, said the new Australian office was involved in preparations for U2’s Oceania tour.

Australian promoters Michael Coppel Presents, which organised U2’s previous tours in the region, said it could not comment on a possible U2 tour.

Bridget de Launay, the company’s New Zealand representative, also would not comment.

Hardcore fans said they were holding off making any concrete plans, but many were confident an announcement was imminent.

“I’m quite used to the ‘frustration’ that happens every U2 tour of not knowing,” one fan said. “To be honest, I think that’s part of building the anticipation.”

All would be forgiven and forgotten as soon as the band announced the tour dates, she said.

“So we wait, patiently - sort of,” she said.

Another fan, Andrew Briscoe, said he was waiting to book flights and accommodation to travel to see multiple shows.

It would be a “frenzy” when an announcement was made, he said.

“Am I excited? Hell yeah. My wife, not so much - she loses me for the best part of three weeks.”

U2 Fined for Noise

Its summer in Turin and most everyone has their windows open. Don’t think about waking up the the neighorhood with some loud music. Its seems that Bono and the boys have been bad. Well according to the Italian press.

Firefighters where rushed to the stadium and pulled out their meter and detected “heavy night time noise” Hum you think ? Well the Italian promoter took the fine and wishes the boys a good evening. U2 and the locals have had an interesting time not only at this location but at others too. They just can’t seem to get the noise levels right for reshearsals. Can we blame them ?

first up- Bono was attending Alicia Keys wedding this past weekend. Alicia married Swizz Beatz and was not in New York as reported by others.

Sunday night  the whole band got together onfor rehearsals — and, best of all for fans around the world, they rehearsed outside at Olympic Stadium rather than indoors at the Olympic Sports Hall. Other than Bono’s arrival, the two biggest pieces of news are probably these:

Reports coming in from U2 Place and U2 Itlatia suggesting a new song was rehearsed.  Also the following Songs

One Day Like This (cover: Elbow)> Beautiful Day
- Magnificent
- Soon> Moment of Surrender
- New Year’s Day
- Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
- Get On Your Boots

A second rehearsal included the following

Lights Sound and Crew

Diego Spagnoli: 2010Turin news: The first sound check at the stadium happened yesterday suggestions that it was U2 was a bit wrong. The taped music is part of the normal process of setup. The crew always plays some music over the PA’s to run meter tests and RF tests. Dallasm Sam and Joe have all been spotted in the statium. The stage is complete. Now all we need is the band.

U2 when they're 64

Dave Long / U2TOURFANS 2010 Bono turned 50 this summer but the Irish star will have no time to relax. The 360 tour is U2’s first under its 12-year deal with Live Nation, which means the supergroup will be touring well into their early 60’s.

Billboard just released its Top Concert Tours for 2009, and leading the pack with the highest-grossing tour was U2. The other artists in the top five were Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, and Pink.

U2 spent 2009 touring behind its studio album ‘No Line on the Horizon,’ and will continue to tour in North America and Europe this summer.

U2’s deal with Live Nation earned them $108 million last year and the top spot on Billboard’s Top Money Earners list for 2009, thanks to the band selling out all 44 of its concerts in 2009. Total gross for the 360 tour was $311, 637, 740, with total attendance at 3, 071, 290.

So will you love them at 64 ?
