Bono Introduces New Song "The Streets Of Surrender"

Bono has dedicated a new song about freedom and love to the 130 people murdered by terrorists in Paris last month.

During an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, Bono revealed he'd written a song for veteran Italian blues and rock singer Zucchero Fornaciari but had decided to reclaim and release it as The Streets of Surrender.

Then, at length, Bono ran through the song's dramatic lyrics, which boil down to being a plug for all kinds of "freedom".

In the aftermath of the November 13, attacks most bands in the French capital pulled the plug on shows.

But the U2 concerts were quickly rescheduled. The band appear at the 16,000-capacity AccorHotels Arena in the French capital on Sunday and again on Monday.

Paris: Thousands of U2 fans gather to hear U2 perform at AccorHotels Arena a return from a few weeks ago where terrorists attacked and killed 130 people and injured few hundred more. The band dedicated songs to Paris, saying "We are all Parisians," and "If you love liberty, Paris is your hometown" but also to victims of the San Bernardino, California, shooting, attacks in Beirut and to "all those hostage of an ideology."

Eagles of Death Metal attended the show ( right up front). The U2 website quickly updated that EDM was not going to appear on stage with U2 as rumors suggested.

Bono did reveal that he has written a new song that was to be used by Fornaciari however he decided to reclaim and release the song titled "The Streets of Surrender".

The Edge said that the band views music as freedom so their return to Paris is not just symbolic its starting a process of resistance and defiance against ISS which carried out the killings.

'The Streets of Surrender' (S.O.S.)

Every man has two cities he needs to be: The one he can touch and the one he can't see.

The one where a stranger's a friend; every man has got one city of liberty.

Every time I get lost down these ancient streets I find myself again.

You're free baby baby, free now and forever.

It's Christmas time, you can decide to forget or remember.

You're free baby baby, I didn't come down here to fight you.

I came down these streets of lovin' pride to surrender, the streets of surrender

I heard a far-fetched story that nobody seems to know, I think it was about that stranger.

It was youth, it was love and it was danger.

It was winter, but that warm it gets before the snow, it chilled my soul.

Everybody's cryin' about some kid that they found lyin' on a beach, born in a manger.

You're free baby baby, free now and forever.

It's Christmas time, you can decide to forget or to remember.

You're free baby baby, I didn't come down here to fight you.

I came down these streets of lovin' pride to surrender, streets of surrender.

Be vigilant, but be unafraid ! As U2 heads back to Paris

New York City:  Bono was honored during the10-year anniversary of his humanitarian organizations, ONE and (RED), Bono, U2’s frontman, was characteristically hopeful about returning to Paris, stressing joy and defiance in the face of terror.

"Nothing will stop us from going back. Be vigilant, but be unafraid." U2 does not have a history of canceling shows and as Bono said "Its the Irish in us we just don't want to give into terrorism.

The head of Live Nation Arthur Fogel's face said it clearly to us that this was not going to happen. Now we needed to turn our focus to how can we help our fellow musicians "The Eagles of Death Metal"  As we focused on our departure from Paris we offered our plane and in the end we found what was needed most was some mobile devices to reconnect. Since the band lost their phones at the venue.

When asked about the new scheduled shows in Paris, Bono said that the show will go on as normal. Defining normal as the show was intended to be. Its business as usual as act of defiance.

Paris will be the end of this tour. The band had planned to end their tour at home in Dublin however its fitting that the boys head back to Paris with all the hope in the world for peace.

What is World AIDS Day?

World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.

Why is World AIDS Day important?

Over 100,000 people are living with HIV in the UK. Globally there are an estimated 34 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.

Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment, there are laws to protect people living with HIV and we understand so much more about the condition. Despite this, each year in the UK around 6,000 people are diagnosed with HIV, people do not know the facts about how to protect themselves and others, and stigma and discrimination remain a reality for many people living with the condition.

World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the public and Government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.

* Donations will be made on your behalf for each purchase. You will receive a confirmation of the donation made on your behalf via email.  U2TOURFANS is not affiliated or associated with One Campaign nor RED. Paris, France:  Over the last few days new rumors have started to surface that the band may be returning to France after the Dublin shows.

However this has yet to be to confirmed. The French authorities will decide when U2 returns to Paris according to Bono's comments during earlier interview.

The band is currently in Ireland playing a total of 6 shows will continue to finish out this leg of the tour and return to the studio to finish up the next album which is due to be released early 2016.

Mean time Bono reflected back on the MSG shows; The feeling of Madison Square Garden was just unbelievable. ... The feeling was just "this is who we are; you can't change us,"

Bono said" 'You're not going to turn us into haters, or you're not going to turn us around in the way we go about our lives.' That was the feeling of Madison Square Garden back then, and I hope that will be the feeling at Bercy (the arena in Paris) when we get back there."

U2 All Star Event Possible

Sources suggest that U2 have been in talks to lead an all star Paris concert event to benefit the victims of November 13th attacks.

The boys are in discussions to put together a concert to help the families of the victims.  Bono has been trying to work on getting other musicians lined up to support the event.  In the wake of most bands now canceling any euro tour this might be a challenge.

However if any one can pull it off Bono would be the one to get everyone engaged.  We will check back with our sources and update as information becomes available.
