U2 Daily News

New York City:  You may have noticed that we have refreshed our site. Don't worry all of the old content can still be found.

We centered our focus on the tour news that we are about to launch in a few days.

One big change will be our tour image wall which can be found on our site as well as on Instagram. You can expect to see concert footage of the day also as well as updated setlists, video footage of the day and of course tour news.

Hey in tour news today.  Opening Night inVancouver, the band will be featuring the work of Canadian parliamentary poet laureate George Elliott Clarke.

Clarke was contacted by the Third Company, which is producing visuals for U2’s Joshua Tree 30th-anniversary tour, with a request to feature his poems “Ain’t You Scared of the Sacred?: A Spiritual” and “Elegy for Leonard Cohen” during the band’s Vancouver date. The poems will be projected on stage screens prior to the show.

Oops Billboard! Loose Lips, Creates A Buzz

New York City:  24 hrs may seem like a long time, however, have learned very early sometimes you better wait before reporting a source's statement.

It looks like Billboard's reporter Lipshutz may have jumped out a bit early on a story that suggests U2 2017 concert schedule.

Jason Lipshutz ( which we are a fan of his work) published a story suggesting sources told him that U2 would do a series of dates and even suggested a headline slot a major festival. However, within a short time, the whole article has been edited to remove the rumors and any of the proposed details.

U2 marketing machine would want to be in full control of the timing and release of any tour news.  Too bad for Jason that all of the outlets picked up on his story and ran with it as if it was gospel.  U2 fans don't worry the tour news will be forthcoming in due time.

U2 2017 Tour ?

New York City:  Who has that magic eight ball? Call the psychic hotline! Anyone's guess as to what is up with U2 right now. The boys have been in and out of the studio for some time.

The challenge to make an album that can stand the test of time, push the band over the edge of yesterday's mega rock band into tomorrow's hipster cool Williamsburg, Brooklyn craft beer drinking fans next musical phase.

Oh shit, we sure to piss off yesterday's fans now. Shit, We have done it. U2 hardcore fans just want a fresh new album. Not really caring about charts, Grammy awards any of that other crap associated with the business of music.

Truth told. Its a business and the boys do earn a nice living from our support. To think that they are not interested in new fans is very naive of us. The music business has changed. Downloads, Steaming are king! Bands must tour to achieve mega cash. U2 is no different a solid album leads to a mega tour combining the old and new fans. This last album right or wrong, indifference to what we think the album did bring some new fans to the party. MSG was sold out for a week, and while looking around the crowd, we could spot fresh faces singing the new and yes old songs.

It's Christmas time in New York and all we could ask Santa for this year is a taste of some fresh new U2 beats and oh yea some tour calendar info. Well U2 fans around the world. We are blessed beyond measure, and we trust that you enjoy your holiday season with friends and family and most of all remember to help someone achieve their goals helps you make yours.

U2 Singapore, U2 Holidays and 2017

New York City:  In a strange way, sort of me too statement U2 also will be on their way to Singapore next year (2017) for a possible stadium tour. Coldplay announced their 2017 tour dates with a stop over in Singapore National Stadium.

Some noise around the boys from Dublin suggests that the long-awaited "Songs Of Experience" may be released in 2017 with a massive global stadium tour.  The Singapore stop would the first time that U2 has performed in Singapore.  Don't start packing as of yet. The boys have not confirmed anything, and sources inside the band have not commented.

We know everyone has been waiting for the next release even talks of a release before Grammy voting season dashed by not releasing anything before October the boys have effectively knocked themselves right off the list of contenders for 2016 which could have been a solid showing for the boys.

Now it surely looks to be a 2017 release. Which as we stated before this is a big album for U2. The release needs a solid entry on the Billboard charts, not just one hit, a couple of solid placements within the top 10 Rock charts to remain relevant and bring along those new fans from the previous album.

Now long-time U2 fans will say that they would rather have a solid album and not care too much about the business side. However, this is a business, and the band has been acutely aware that the machine needs to be treated and fed with a successful release.  We hear from U2 fans often that say the business side does not concern them, which our view frankly states that the music has a hard time getting exposure without a solid business plan. In other news, the holidays just around the corner and we have been busy with restructuring the operations side of our community.

Totally not ready for any major announcements however we can say we plan to scale up in some parts of our social communities and scale down within some.  The bottom line is that we are looking to streamline our communities to reduce our costs and provide a better experience.  Hiring will start in 2017 early for some key members which we will announce shortly.

Holidays !

Yea this is the time of the year we all gather around our friends and family to enjoy some holiday cheer.  We have been working with Mark Peterson to produce a couple of exclusive items for this holiday.

Watch for a release in a few days for Holiday Cards that you can personalize, Calendars and two brand new U2 Photo books and as a bonus a digital access key to the picture vault to download some very exclusive items.  Yea we thought this was a pretty cool way to finish out the year. All proceeds go directly to Mark's touring budget which if you have been following we had Mark around a few cities during the last tour.  Cheers and Be well U2 fans 2017 is right around the corner.

Lillywhite, iPhone Mixed U2 Song

New York:  By now you heard that that Steve has been in Singapore for a music festival and bumped into to our friend Alan Cross who happened to be at the conference too. Alan posted on his blog:

Steve had better hang on tight to his phone while he's here in Singapore. He told everyone during a keynote address that Bono had given him a ring and asked if he'd have a go at mixing the new U2 single. That mix is on his phone.

No, the name of the single was not released nor can we speculate which song Steve happened to be mixing.

Humm what could it be?

Anyway we will all have to wait and see

Until The End

New York:  Often fans wonder about the end, the last gasp, the final note, the massive break up and the music world there have been few major break ups.  Ever wonder how the demise started? Was it the screwing of a girlfriend, shorting the performance pay, claiming the band leader role when you could not even tie a shoe?  Well, those reasons are all true. Often bands depart ways for creative differences or at least that's what the record label promotes so as to give you the illusion that tomorrow could bring them back.

Rock and Roll's critics have for years told the fans that ROCK IS DEAD. The last gasp happened many years ago when, Mic, Dave or Jimmy blew out your ears.  Could it be true? Could we have heard the last of the greats? By now if you are still reading this rambling crap your wondering what the FUCK does this have to do with U2?

U2 has managed to stay the course. The course that riddled with pot holes, political outcries, failed loves, failed marriages and so much more yet you the fan have never heard a word of it. Nor will you so don't get your hopes up for some juicy gossipy stories about the boys. It just does not happen outside the core. No, a word was spoken. Rightfully so any crew worth its weight in gold knows the value of shutting up, keeping the laundry in the house. Just the mere idea to imply that the boys have issues like you and or we breaks the illusion of a great rock band.

The future is right around the corner, change will happen, change is good, bad and indifferent to your concerns. It's a force of nature that allows for growth and possibility.

The marketing machine has been at work, notice some U2 stories appearing around the world. It's time; you can almost feel it.  For us, at U2TOURFANS it is about the music pure and straightforward as it is. Yes, of course, we are interested in the lives of the band members, crew, and of course the groupies, however, it's the same story from town to town, country to country and by now we have heard them all.

As we told you before September is right around the corner, clear your minds, listen to some fresh, innovative tunes as we all await the arrive of something amazing. Bet you are asking why we call it AMAZING.  Well, that's easy, AMAZING because in a time when the world is in chaos it's music that brings all together and for one night we all singing as one.  It order us to continue we must remember that its music that connects us and that with music would, maybe change the world.

U2 Inches Closer

New York:  Millennials, Gen X, Baby Boomers all nestled in MSG is late July, and the band is about to perform its last show in during the sold out week in New York.

What's next screams a fan? The future! That's what comes next. Questions should the band go large? Or return to smaller venues?

Time plays a wicked game with bands, as they get older, their audiences do too, and yet some may not be along for the ride as U2 starts to privot towards the future some could say they have heard that sound before others will embrace it as new fresh innovative, maybe even insightful.

U2 / Bono/ U2TOURFANS / Mark Peterson

The band has its challenges coming forward in this new millennial music world. Downloads increase, less direct purchasing and the thirst for live music ever increasing.

Bono view of the future has grown increasingly important. One could wonder if this obsession with legacy could halt the creative flow of the band as it tries once again to reinvent its self the future blazes forward.

U2 inches closer towards that October date, and fans grow restless for that U2 release. Given the timeline and the narrative from the band we could expect to see something very shortly. Betting on the live dates coming up, the boys could test some new songs just has we heard over the weekend.

The possibility has moved from maybe to a strong yea something is about to happen.  Summer is about to end,  The Hamptons becomes a ghost town, Fire Island awaits our return as we all ease back into full-on work mode.
