Adam Clayton finally becomes a father

Adam Clayton /U2TOURFANS 2010 Adams Clayton has finally become a father.

The Sunday Independent newspaper has revealed that 50-year-old Clayton, for years the bad boy of the group, had a child with his French girlfriend last year.

He is said to be over the moon.

Clayton was the bad boy best known for his rocky relationship with supermodel Naomi Campbell.

In more recent times it was revealed that his long-time personal assistant had allegedly been ripping him off.

Those bad times seem to be behind him now and the U2 bassist is looking at a more settled life with his new addition.

It took a while.

“I think one of the great things about bands is that they allow you to be irresponsible for longer — whether or not in the end that’s a really healthy position to take,” Adam told Q Magazine in 2001.

“I guess I’ve been lucky in that I f….d about until my mid-30s and now I can have more of a balanced outlook. I think not having a family and kids, I know what I need.”

He was a wild child.

Bono once stated that “we lived through him vicariously for a few years. I was hoping that he’d do something like buy a yacht and we could all hang out on it. Because all of us were too embarrassed.”

Delay again !

The Spider-Man musical scored by U2’s Bono and The Edge has again been postponed - this time in order to allow the cast rehearse a new ending.

‘Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark’ has been plagued by problems, including lead actress Natalie Mendoza pulling out earlier this month following an onstage injury, as well as numerous other delays. In December, another actor from the musical was hospitalised after falling off the set. It will now open officially on Broadway in March, reports BBC News.

The show’s producer, Michael Cohl, said that the delay will be “the final postponement”.

Meanwhile, Bono and The Edge have also been personally working on the show again recently in light of its problems, bringing in producer Steve Lillywhite to work with the cast on its music, reports Deadline.com. Although its problems have been highly-publicised, tickets for the musical are reportedly selling well.

Kings of the castle

It was a homecoming of sorts, but one fit for rock royalty. The historic Dromoland Castle flung open its doors in extraordinary circumstances this week for returning global superstars U2.

Despite being closed for Christmas, staff at the five-star hotel went back to work just for one night on Monday to welcome U2 singer Bono and guitarist Edge. The rockers had their travel plans disrupted by snow and needed somewhere suitably palatial to hole up for the night.

The stay came about after U2′s Principal Management contacted the 16th Century castle, where a luxury suite costs €950 a night, to ask if they could put up some VIPs.

Dromoland Castle manager Mark Nolan said: “Principal Management told us the band had been flying back to Ireland from the latest leg of their tour in Australia. But because of snow their flight had been diverted to Shannon.

Bono had asked if it was possible to spend a night in Dromoland Castle before returning to Dublin.”

Mr Nolan had to tell U2′s management that Dromoland Castle was closed for Christmas — but said he would see what could be done.

The Dubliner then rang around staff to ask if they would cater for the biggest rock stars in the world.

“No one said no, in fact we were inundated with requests from staff to help out, unsurprisingly,” added Mr Nolan.

But with Bono and the Edge arriving at Dromoland in a matter of hours, the kitchen at the castle was shut with the head chef away.

So the hotel boss sought the help of his wife Maria to lay on the catering.

Faced with a famished U2, luckily Mrs Nolan had been doing some cooking for Christmas — including a family-sized shepherd’s pie, which she served when the musicians arrived at the castle.

The impromptu dinner party included 10 of U2′s road crew and bass guitarist Chris Wolstenholme from English rock band Muse, who had been the support act on the Australian leg of U2′s tour.

During the meal they were entertained by a trad band, with Bono lending his vocals to their set of Irish airs.

Sources say the party went on well into the night, with the members of the rock band joined by the skeleton staff at the castle.

Suites

Later the group retired to their luxury suites, which feature cottage-style decor based on 18th Century botanical drawings and upholstery designed by the French fabric house Pierre Frey.

The next morning, after making them breakfast, staff waved the band off as they went to catch a train to Dublin’s Heuston Station. Dromoland Castle confirmed that U2 were paying guests during their stay.

“U2 were the nicest people you ever could meet and very engaging. They were especially appreciative of the efforts the staff at Dromoland had made. We would happily welcome U2 back anytime,” said Pamela Foley, rooms division manager at Dromoland Castle.

Set among 410 acres of park and woodland, Dromoland Castle is regarded as one of Europe’s top luxury retreats.

Former US presidents Bill Clinton and George W Bush have both stayed there, as has Hollywood actor John Travolta.

U2 begin the next leg of their world tour in Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 13.

U2 Argentina 2011

AS we have reported before. South American new show dates have been kicked around a couple of times. It seems that Argentina may get a third show. April 2. Adveristing has been spotted with the new date and yet we have no offical word. We pretty much have a good idea that the boys will add a third date. Thus skiping Peru and or Columbia - Which was expected. However Peru may still have a chance. Its a perfect stop over on the way back to North America

U2 Tckts North American Tour

The U2TOURFANS staff has returned to work. We are ready to begin our 2011 tour season. We have some amazing projects coming up and we think your going to just enjoy the U2 fan blast. We are in the process of development of a new social media tool just for U2 fans. U2 Fan blast. Its your own live concert channel for those of you attending the shows around the world. South America your included ! The channel supports all types of mobile phones and of course Ipads. Watch for it to appear soon.

We have some staffers looking for GA seats to all shows. If you have extra and want to sell them or of course donate them ( yea we had to throw that line in ) we have a section on the site to sell tickets. NO SCALPERS welcome. Your always welcomed to post them directly to the facebook channel.

A question from the mail bag. ” Whats with the Youtube Channel? It seems to have lots of commercials within the video”  Answer:  Youtube has changed the way they view concerts. Once a upon a time concerts where viewed as fair posts. Now they use a software package that can name the song and start pushing the Itunes, or Amazon links to buy.   We are looking at our options for future posts.  Facebook video seems to be a good choice right now.

Future of U2TOURFANS: Well folks our Editor has informed us that we are running very low on funds for 2011 and we should cut costs where we can. Of course that’s nothing new with a non profit so we are looking at new ways to raise funds.  As promised we are no longer ad supported - We have removed all of the ads from our site besides iTunes and JimmyJane.

Sponsorship: We have a sponsorship package for a company that want to be infront of 500K fans age range 25-45 audience that is very mixed. ( male/Female). The package will include our concert team as well. Our North American team will be out at every show and can be a major part of your product or service. Your company name, product and or service can be featured. Send an email directly to 2011 at u2tourfans.com   At this time we are only looking for one sponsor.

As always we are your fan choice and we know that you have many options. We like to hear from you. provide your feedback and help us continue to grow. Share our site, Share Facebook and Twitter.

We will see you out very soon

Concerts, New Album and Spider Man

U2 has a couple of projects going on right now. As most of you already know the tour will pick back up in February. The return to North America  will be bitter sweet. The idea that the boys could pull off another around of stadium tours may not be as easy as one would think. 360 was the most expensive show of its kind. Sure Boni Jovi can try to take claim however the sure about of the crew can out weigh any claim. So 360 may be the last of its kind. Why not return to the smaller venues and do a couple of nights. The ticket prices could be lower and the whole show could be toned down to be just about the music.  A U2 concert today is an event. Its not only music, its people wanting to be seen around other people. Pure U2 fans love the music and not all the hype.  Yes Bono we will remember you. How could we not, you and the rest of the band defined our views towards the world. U2 was not just another punk rock band.

Spider Man: You can expect to see Bono and The Edge attending all the pre shows in New York this month and try to bring some positive vibe back to a show that has so many mis-cues you wonder if it would ever get off. We expect that the promotions department is working hard on tieing the boys into the premier. Hey why not if you have two of the biggest stars in the music world behind you, why not push them out front.

New Album(s): Its just a rumor but hey rumors can be fun sometimes. We heard that we could see two new projects from them this year and two the following year. Lots of studio work has been going and now days studio work can be done anywhere in the world. So expect to see some interesting mixes from some interesting artists. Now of course we could not name names.
