U2 in Bray

The boys spotted this week filming in Bray, CO Wicklow yesterday with fans praying that the band would be shooting a new album cover. The band has been held up at teh Bray Head Hotel before filming a segment. "Desire" could be heard along the seafront.

The boys performed an impromptu set for select passerby who just happened to be at the right place at the right time.  Locals may be included in the video.

As we reported earlier in the week the back released their first song in three years. The track appears in the trailer for the upcoming biopic movie on the life of Nelson Madela called ‘Mandela: Long walk to freedom’. However the track may not appear on the band’s new album, as it was specifically written for the Mandela movie.

Trailer features new U2 song

U2 fans anxious for fresh music can now hear the group's first new song in three years — at least some of it.

A little more than a minute of a song called Ordinary Love is included in the trailer for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, a biopic about South African leader Nelson Mandela.

"The sea wants to kiss the golden shore/The sunlight warms your skin," Bono sings over a piano track. "All the beauty that's been lost before wants to find us again." In the sample, the music eventually swells to a masssive, choir-based chorus.

There's no word if Ordinary Love, written specifically for Mandela, will be included on the group's next album, tentatively slated for a 2014 release.

U2 bassist Adam Clayton recently told an Irish radio station that the group hopes to have 12 songs for a new album completed by the end of November.

"I think it's a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years," Clayton said. The new album would be the group's first since 2009's No Line on the Horizon.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, starring Idris Elba and directed by Justin Chadwick, premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and will be in theaters Nov. 29.

Adam Drops Hints !

Adam Clayton let some hints slip while on Irish station 98 FM's Dermot and Dave show. "We are still at it. We hope to have it finished very, very soon. And it will be out, oh . . . sometime early next year," Clayton said. "But it's a very exciting bunch of songs right at the moment . . . it's just about to be finished, so it's hard to know which way they'll go.

Pretty much what we heard was that Adam and the boys are back in Dublin working in the studio on 12 songs to get them finished by the end of November so that everyone can go on holiday and that we can expect a new U2 album early next year.

U2 Headliners for World Cup 2014

U2 could headline the World Cup’s opening ceremony in Brazil 2014.  Insiders are open to having U2 open the FIFA concert in Sao Paulo on Jun 12 2014. ( So far no source has been able to confirm this )

So far FIFA has set a side 15M for the show. News around Brazil suggests this is a done deal.

A source said: “For something as big as a World Cup opening ceremony they would want a massive name given it will be seen by millions and U2 would fit that bill perfectly – especially as they are liked and listened to in countries across the world.”

FIFA have already signed up top-class director Franco Dragone to produce the show, following his success with Cirque du Soleil and Celine Dion’s live Las Vegas concert.

And it is claimed U2 would take over the majority of the show if they were to sign up, which is likely to be their first new tour date.

U2 spokeswoman told the Irish Mirror they had no information to give out on the band’s plan to take part in the World Cup opening ceremony.

Industry sources yesterday revealed that their follow-up to No Line on the Horizon would not now be released until spring 2014, which would fit perfectly with a World Cup performance.

U2 have almost finished the so far untitled record but are working on finalizing art, videos and other elements that will be needed for the release.

Bono said: “We have a deal with our audience, they give us a great life and they expect us to be great and that’s tricky. As you get better you get very good and very good is kind of the enemy of great.

“You can mistake it for great. People don’t get excited about us being very good. Who needs a new U2 album?

“There are loads of them out there. We have to make a great U2 album and they don’t care waiting as long as it’s great.”

U2 Expected Spring 2014

Spring 2014 almost 5 years later since U2 has released an album. The rumors are flying around that suggest Spring 2014 for some new music from the boys. Everything we heard from our sources suggests we are on track for Spring 2014.

In case, you missed it. Bono was on Dave Letterman and suggested that the final touch up is under way. The artwork, some videos and the marketing machine team will start kicking it to full gear early 2014.

Lets be real we all know U2 likes to have everything in place and really fine tuned prior to any release. This we know for fact. We can expect to see the boys appear on the road supporting the new project because of changes in the music business bands really need to hit the road to earn any money.

Yes, even U2 with their 360 agreements with Live Nation will be required to hit the road. We think that the rumor around smaller closer intimate venues might be way for them to go. Getting closer to the fans, playing multi dates in some of the larger cities to support a kind of a fair well tour. (Yea we said it).

The boys really want to make a big splash and yet they still fight the noise of “are we relevant?” the boys want to go out on top as the “Worlds Greatest Rock Bands” Its all part of a greater plan.

So for now know that the music is on the tape and ready to be burned to CD’s or downloads and all that’s left is for the label to pick a release date that brings the biggest amount of attention.
