U2 Back in Studio with Lilywhite

Watch for a new magazine profile come out early next week about the boys and their studio plans as well as the upcoming tour.  A noteworthy comment about a remix of "Red Hill Mining Town" to be pushed out before the tour starting later this year. Ah, wait a minute we also heard that "Songs Of Experience" may be ready late 2017 ahead of a tour kicking off Spring of 2018.   

The band is expected to head back into Electric Lady Studios with magic man Steve Lillywhite to fine tune the album.

We can expect that some of the lyrics may be getting uplift now that the US elections are over and Donald Trump is in office.  Clayton suggested that they have about 15 to 16 songs however the album will only produce 12 songs.

This long-awaited album has been the focus for many, the band, fans and of course Live Nation that wraps the tour around a successful release. Waiting can be settling for most. However, U2 has always worked on releasing on their schedule.

Nothing comes out before they are totally decided on the vibe, the feeling and the ability to perform those songs live. A couple of tracks have been named, yet to be confirmed. "The Showmen"  “The Little Things That Give You Away,” “Red Flag Day” and “Summer of Love,” the last two of which deal with the refugee crisis. Another track is called “The Best Thing About You Is Me,” all reported in the next edition of MoJo

Boston Feels Like Home, U2 Fans Agree

Boston: U2 arrived into Boston with a wave of support from Toronto fans that just had the most amazing experience and a few dreams come true.  Boston is a special place for U2.  This town is home to the first North American spins for U2 music. This town totally supports U2 and of course the band embraces Boston. Critics and Bloggers throw their comments around as if their words carry weight with the band.

This band does not perform for the critics.  Last night the band stepped into TD Garden for the first of four sold out shows and that's just the way the band likes it. Having performed in Boston 23 times this is home to them. This is the summer show to see and its almost over for North America. A few dates in Boston and off to New York to close out the North America leg. In the business of touring New York happens to be the perfect end.  The crew and all that cargo can be wrapped up and shipped overseas with out skipping a beat. U2Bike will be packed up nicely and ready to be riding around the country side in September.  So enough about New York. We still have Boston right in front of us.  

Sound check saw the return of Invisible and yet to be performed on this tour New Years Day. The band continues to blend in their extensive catalog and while they may sound check a few tunes that does not mean the songs make it to the performance.

U2 Vancouver Rehearsals

The band continued to rehearse last night as scheduled. We have already sent out the official communication in regards to the show schedule which will not change. 

During the dinner break catering sent out some pizza for those in the GA line already. 

Also Adam spent a few minutes with those in line prior to his departure back to the hotel.  Bono waived to the crowd and was not getting out of the SUV possible strained voice from rehearsals.

Happy Birthday Adam Clayton

Happy Birthday Mate, Enjoy your special day.

“Life was pretty chaotic. I don’t really like that kind of intensity, I don’t like that sort of activity, so whilst I was able to go along with it, I wasn’t really in control, it would be fair to say. Every night was a party, but I don’t think I felt much contentment or peace, that’s for sure. I’d be fine during the day, I’d be fine for the gig but afterwards it was too easy to go out all night or just keep drinking in your room. I was beginning to realize that every time I drank, I couldn’t really be sure of the result. And it always made the next day worse. So I decided to lay off and stop drinking during the final leg of the tour.”

Adam Charles Clayton was born to brian and Jo in Oxfordshire, England on 13th March 1960. At the age of 5 the family moved to Yellow Walls Road in Malahide near Dublin, where sister Sarah and brother Sebastian were born. Adam was sent to St. Columba's boarding school due to the nature of his father's job (RAF pilot) which meant that the family could be called away at very short notice. 

As a bass player, Adam Clayton's most recognizable basslines include "New Year's Day", which evolved out of an attempt to play Visage's song "Fade to Grey", and "With or Without You" His style includes Motown and reggae influences.and cites artists such as Paul Simonon of The Clash as influences on his musical style.

When Clayton first joined the fledgling U2, he did not have formal training in the bass. In the band's early years, he generally played simple parts in 4/4 time. Bono said of Clayton's early bass playing, "Adam used to pretend he could play bass. He came round and started using words like 'action' and 'fret' and he had us baffled. He had the only amplifier, so we never argued with him. We thought this guy must be a musician; he knows what he's talking about. And then one day, we discovered he wasn't playing the right notes. That's what's wrong, y'know?"

Clayton has sung on several occasion, including on the song "Endless Deep", the B-side to the single "Two Hearts Beat As One" from 1983. Clayton also sang backup vocals on "I Will Follow" during live performances in 1983 and 1984. He also spoke the last verse of "Your Blue Room". Clayton can be heard speaking on "Tomorrow ('96 Version)" (a rerecording of "Tomorrow" that he arranged) a song from U2's 1981 album October.He plays the guitar on a few occasions, most notably the song "40", where he and guitarist The Edge switch instruments. He also plays the keyboard introduction to "City of Blinding Lights".

Songs of Experience Almost Ready

Adam had a lovely outing recently that allowed us to peek into what is up next for the boys.  He said the next project is about 70% complete with some fine turning going on right now. They have the layout of the songs that they plan to have on the album. Suggested a possible different way of releasing the music next time around suggested that we might see a completely new method of delivering music.  

Adam has been quoted as saying "Depending on how long it takes to be completed, there may be a whole new delivery method invented by then. I think we just have to wait and see," he said. "There will be a bit of water under the bridge before we get to that point.

Adam Drops Hints !

Adam Clayton let some hints slip while on Irish station 98 FM's Dermot and Dave show. "We are still at it. We hope to have it finished very, very soon. And it will be out, oh . . . sometime early next year," Clayton said. "But it's a very exciting bunch of songs right at the moment . . . it's just about to be finished, so it's hard to know which way they'll go.

Pretty much what we heard was that Adam and the boys are back in Dublin working in the studio on 12 songs to get them finished by the end of November so that everyone can go on holiday and that we can expect a new U2 album early next year.
