September or November is U2 Ready ?

The Irish Examiner has reported that the boys are planning to release their 13th studio album this November, yes we said November 2014. Now while we all know that the press maybe off a day or too the Irish Examiner seems to be on track most of the time. Sources close to U2TOURFANS suggest that in fact we could be looking at a new album this year.

Apple’s iTunes Festival schedule of gigs at the Roundhouse in Camden, North London in September have you U2 on the bill which means the boys could in fact test out the new material.

Bono has not felt the magic and has been suffering from writers block and the process has been a challenge for everyone.

A source has suggested, "The U2 comeback is very much on for this year. This album has been a real struggle for them to make.

In addition, we heard that the wait would be worth it.  We all know that U2 is worth the wait we can only trust that Bono believes in U2.

New Music from Bono's House

First posted earlier this morning this recording from Bono's house.  U2 'Song For Someone' This is nothing new from the stand point of fans recording music coming out of Bono's house. Now of course we all want to know if we should consider this to be "new" music.  We reported earlier today that U2 will be delayed at at least to 2015. Now this could change however it really is not as fluid you would think. Lots of moving parts need to all line up for this to close before 2015.

U2 Fans will have to wait until 2015

Bono / U2 / U2TOURFANS 2014

Bono / U2 / U2TOURFANS 2014

What has happened to the magic?  Over the last few months, it seems that the magic has left the building. U2 expected to release a new album this year with a stadium tour in the summer and it seems that the whole thing stalled out in Dublin.  The album we like to call “Lucky 13” seems to be taking longer to finish and while some may say that’s ok because the whole album will capture the magic again.

Rumors suggest that the band was looking creative support on this project and this was the reason to push to 2015.  Remember this is a self-imposed release date nothing official was announced.

"We've always needed collaborators to challenge us," says drummer Larry Mullen. "We're slow learners. We need to be creative, on the cutting edge, challenged, and it's really hard going, it's relentless, and we're relentless, and we have a history of breaking engineers, producers. I mean, people come out of working with U2 and just go, 'I just don't know what's happened; it feels like a lifetime has passed by.' And that's just the way we work."

Bono then added: "The album won't be ready till it's ready. However, right now, people are walking a little differently -- well, they are not walking, they are running as if to a finish line. There are a couple of songs that are part of the story we have not quite finished. We know we have to spend a couple of years taking these songs around the world, so they'd better be good."

Bono’s comments suggest a world tour will follow shortly after the release of the new project. Will it be worth the wait or have we already experienced the best that U2 has to offer?  Time will tell.

New Release 11/4/14 Maybe

We spotted this earlier today and just waited for a bit before we thought about sharing it with you. Something is brewing over on U2.com.

Or it could be the that the web design department got a little ahead of their schedule. Or it could be an error. Either way its interesting to think that it could be possible that they do in fact get the album in under 2014.

If they planned for a Grammy Award 2014 they need to release the whole project before August 2014. To be able to submit for the awards season 2015.  Or they could just be thinking that heck we waited this long lets see how much longer fans will wait.  #FOREVER

P.S. The date is a Tuesday, just saying

Reflections of a U2 fan

Its early morning, which came after along night of partying just before the dawn of a New Year Day I wondered around the backyard of a friends house wondering what my future holds for me. I wonder if the feeling was going to hold beyond today.

I knew this day was special however; I had no idea how special it was about to become.

Immersed into a U2 experience that was unlike any musical experience I began to look beyond my square piece of grass and wonder what I have done to make this place I live a better place. I have heard about this band before and dismissed them as POP Culture a fad like the girl friend of the evening.

Nothing more or less just a taste of something different that I was surely not going to venture toward again with those preconceived ideas I listened again and BOOM as the music played my eyes and heart opened to something that was not expected I began to give a shit about the world around me. I awoke from my self-centered world into a pool of hope and opportunity.

I listened for more words of wisdom and thought this must be a sign that its time to turn the page, look beyond myself, and give back towards that light that created me.  I have always loved music and used music to ease the tensions of my uneven life and provide me comfort when nothing else could.  Music was the one place that I could turn up and tune out and be alone with myself and walk away from all that was wrong around me.

U2 music now opened the doors to be just one with myself and yes faith. Its now a possibility that faith could be front and center in a rock band and that yea its cool to reference God with a big “G” and reach into the bible and put those references that give hope.

So what that U2 references God and verse from the bible we all need a little dose of faith and mix it with reality the music seems to go down better for the non believers.

Yes that was a wonderful evening as “New Years Day” played I was on my rebirth and the journey was surely amazing. I continue to listen and find peace in those simple lyrics of U2.

I await for the next phase of U2 just as the rest....... In faith I believe tomorrow will come.

Top Ten Best U2 B-sides

Although music is highly subjective, below is my ranking of the 10 best B-sides by U2. Not only are these tracks some of my personal favorites, but I’d go a step further and say they should’ve been included on the album of their particular era. Agree or disagree?

Why Not Consider a Donation ?

Often I am asked as to why did I create U2TOURFANS?  What was the idea and what did I expect or hope from it.  Well it all started out as an experiment in social connectivity. The idea that we can all communicate on a single platform. It was a simple concept. Connect Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and a web community into a single source for the complete 360 experience.

Did it work ?  Well it worked beyond my expectations. We created a larger community within a community that offered users an experience to share, create and exchange views on U2.

We are completely self funded and we only ask for donations to help keep our servers running and help with the costs around touring.  We do expect to be on the road sometime in the future.  If your inclined to make a donation.  If not that's cool.

We are a community and we are glad to be apart of your world too.
