U2 Rehearsals Rolling Forward

Vancouver:  The band returned to work on Saturday, B.C. Place Stadium packing in four full days of rehearsals before the opening of the tour this week.  The band did not start until about 9 pm and ending around 10:40 pm local time. Getting the set list just right does require a couple of starts and stops and changes to the set list.

Most of the fans around town seem to have enjoyed the set list and a few have started streaming the muffled rehearsal which gives fans a little insight as to what to expect. We are all settled in and ready for a busy week ahead. We will have our team on the ground with live reporting and of course lots of U2 concert images. As always we welcome your submissions with full credit.  Please send the to concertphotos@u2tourfans.com You can send in your videos to concertvideos@u2tourfans.com

Oops Billboard! Loose Lips, Creates A Buzz

New York City:  24 hrs may seem like a long time, however, have learned very early sometimes you better wait before reporting a source's statement.

It looks like Billboard's reporter Lipshutz may have jumped out a bit early on a story that suggests U2 2017 concert schedule.

Jason Lipshutz ( which we are a fan of his work) published a story suggesting sources told him that U2 would do a series of dates and even suggested a headline slot a major festival. However, within a short time, the whole article has been edited to remove the rumors and any of the proposed details.

U2 marketing machine would want to be in full control of the timing and release of any tour news.  Too bad for Jason that all of the outlets picked up on his story and ran with it as if it was gospel.  U2 fans don't worry the tour news will be forthcoming in due time.

Boston In the Review Mirror, New York City Lights Ahead

Boston:   Boston Strong was the theme of U2's four night appearance. Bono and the boys had not performed consecutive shows since Elevation Tour June 2001.  The band and fans have a great love affair going on for sometime.

Daily sound checks offer possible mix ups in the set list. A bar offered a U2 experience that finally U2's twitter feed had to set the record straight. Kind of reminds us to be young NOT dumb.

One of the interesting things on the tour has been @u2bike which not many have picked up on. A member of the crew has been out around each city taking some wonderful images of the city as well as the venue.

Social media was a buzz "I heard the Fly" " Was that the Fly" mixed in with Invisible. The Fly has not made an arrival this tour. We have go all the way back to May when we heard an acoustic version. During last nights intermission video "The Wanderer" was replaced with a video mixed by Gavin Friday and over the PA was The Fly.  ( Yea we heard that Gavin was in the house) A visual awakening with messages flashing from ZooTV.  "Gloria" made her appearance early in the evening.

Boston Strong! "No bomb can break you" U2 may have physically have left Boston however their message of uplifting hope will carry on until they return. Will they return ? Surely as the Summer turns to a Boston Winter.

U2 News Alert

A blogger in "The Province" has suggested that U2 would be Victoria next month for a normal pre-tour rehearsals  However our sources have suggested that nothing is set in stone and that while the build could be available no one from management has contacted them.

We even checked in with some crew that we know would be supporting the rehearsals, "Heck I would be fully engaged and aware and as of now I know nothing of the sort."  Victoria really would not be on the bands radar however consider all the changes anything is possible. Right now we have to say its a rumor  and watch for more to come.

Bono, Brian Williams join NJ superstorm relief fund's board

Bono and NBC news anchor Brian Williams are the newest board members of a charity launched by the New Jersey governor and his wife to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

With their appointments, announced Tuesday, they join Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and other celebrities on the board.

So far, the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund has raised more than $32 million from more than 22,000 donors worldwide.

Known for his humanitarian efforts, Bono said he was inspired by the work of volunteers after the superstorm hit. Williams grew up at the Jersey Shore.

The Oct. 29 storm was one of the worst to strike the Northeast U.S. It is blamed for more than 130 deaths and tens of billions of dollars in property damage.

Lawson the next U2 ?

Lawson admitted that they like to compare themselves to U2 because they are a "real band" who play their own instruments but make pop music.

When asked who they compare themselves to, the band's Joel Peat told BANG Showbiz: ''U2. They're a proper playing band playing pop music. Even though they're rocking out and stuff, it's still pop music at the end of the day.''

Lawson, which also includes Adam Pitts, Andy Brown and Ryan Fletcher, have supported a variety of acts including The Wanted and Bruce Springsteen, and are now confident in their ability to work a crowd.

Adam added: "We're a band. We can rock out even though we play quite poppy music, but when we do a live show, it's a rock show.''

Lawson were originally called The Grove, but changed their name in honour of Doctor Lawson, the man who treated Andy, 25, after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just 19 years old.

Andy explained he still suffers as a result, adding: ''I'm deaf in one ear. The only really worry is that I really have to protect my good ear 'cause if I damage that then I'll be deaf by the time I'm 40.''
